The science of the use of science and the valorization of research results: new perspectives for the mobilization, transfer and appropriation of knowledge

Trainers: This training is offered by researchers who have been working on the issue of the use of research results for the past 25 years.

Target audience: This advanced level training is aimed at those interested in the issue of the use of research results and science as professionals. However, the first modules cover those interested in the initial training aspects.

Issues: Making the best use of resources, controlling time and planning, and reducing uncertainties make the use of scientific data and sources of evidence an imperative. The choice of knowledge transfer, knowledge ownership, the use, the valuing and the marketing of science in the form of research results and other evidence involves many misunderstandings that need to be cleared. Various evidence-based approaches and their specific prerequisites are covered by the training. Developments in science and technological applications including AI have given this topic new perspectives which are also taken into account.

Number of modules:              20

Customized sessions:             On demand

Pooled session :                     September-November

Planning and implementing data-driven Marketing and communication

Planning and implementin data driven Marketing and  communication

Communication is an essential component of all activities and interventions in the socio-professional spheres. Even before skills are demonstrated, communication, particularly in the context of interventions, is based on content in different formats. Of course, the messenger can play a key role in communication situations. However, depending on the subjects, tools and types of communication, the place of evidence can vary considerably. This course places particular emphasis on this last aspect. Our training is customised and adapted to the needs of those requesting it (health and education professionals, aspiring researchers, etc.).

Policy brief and knowledge retooling

Policy brief - retools decision-makers with knowledge

Information is power and knowledge is a tool. Decision-makers have a constant need for knowledge tools. However, given the variety of decision-makers' profiles and the rigour of scientific words and concepts, it is important to provide them with user-friendly, digestible formats for scientific production. The policy brief is a relevant approach to equipping decision-makers with knowledge, even on subjects that do not fall within their preferred fields. Training also available online or by distance learning

Training

Policy dialogue and use of knowledge

Dialogue politique et utilisation des connaissances

Political dialogue, social or societal dialogue and deliberative dialogue are approaches that can be used to identify and choose priorities for action at various national, regional or provincial levels. Evidence is an important resource for implementing these different dialogue frameworks. This training, offered in the form of a workshop, enables these dialogues to be planned and organised according to the levels of action targeted.

Training

Systematic review and meta-analysis

Training in systematic review and meta-analysis

The number of scientific publications increases every year. The vast amount of information thus available requires appropriate methods of combined and integrative use. Research synthesis approaches are important tools in the process of transferring knowledge and using science.  Using the experiential learning approach, Pluts provides support for systematic reviews and meta-analyses on topics of interest to individuals and organisations.

Support for planning and action based on renewable energies, green jobs and the carbon market: cleaning up your ecological footprint, an evidence-based approach

The state of the planet demands new skills and capabilities from companies and institutions. Today, the need to take account of the ecological footprint and social and environmental responsibility is a concern for all those involved in development. Pluts-Canada offers companies, government and non-government institutions, as well as individuals, training adapted to each field of activity.

Approaches to francization in companies and institutions

Estimation of real needs and integrable approaches to francization in the workplace for businesses and institutions

The recognition of two languages as official languages implies promoting and safeguarding both languages in all spheres. In Quebec, the situation of French is often perceived as a question of identity. This perspective obscures the fact that it is more a Canadian federal issue than a national concern. On an individual level, francization should be seen as a psychological health issue. Pluts can help you assess your needs and provide the right support for your business.

Training

Optimal requirements for a knowledge transfer process

The requirements of an optimal knowledge transfer approach

This two-module course is part of the main course on the science of using science. The mobilisation and transfer of knowledge requires a large number of factors to be taken into account, of which the state and quality of available sources play an important role. More in-depth knowledge of these different factors and conditions is possible. Pluts provides training to help you avoid the pitfalls and envisage a knowledge mobilisation and transfer process that meets the needs of decision-making.

Social responsibility and evidence

Learned societies, civil societies, activism and social responsibility: an evidence-based approach

The role of learned societies, civil society, activists and whistleblowers in promoting better living conditions is increasingly important. However, the actions of these structures and players do not absolve them of the obligation to respect certain values and questions of responsibility. Data and knowledge are tools that facilitate the formulation of concerns. Consistent use of this evidence helps to strengthen the diagnostic capacities of stakeholders. This training, in the form of a workshop, enables these stakeholders to embark on a process of social change with more information about the issues at stake, while protecting them from a wide range of embarrassments.
